A Construction Craft Worker (Also known as a Labourer) works on a wide variety of structures, such as residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional sites as well as hydro-electric dams, roadways, bridges, tunnels, mining and railways. They may also work on utility, landscape and pipeline projects.

Responsibilities

  • Site preparation and cleanup

  • Setting up & removing access equipment

  • Working on concrete, masonry, steel, wood and pre-cast erecting projects

  • Handling materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation and compaction activities

  • Site security

  • May specialize in operating off-road vehicles, drilling and blasting, scaling, sandblasting, high pressure washing, diving, tunnelling and performing emergency rescue

Apprenticeship Program

2400 hours of on-the-job training, supplemented by two 8-week sessions of in-class technical training.

Entrance Requirements

  • Grade 10 minimum, Grade 12 numeracy/literacy preferred

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence

Journeyperson Wage Rate

$35.95/Hr (2024 Provincial Average)
