Drywall, acoustic and lathing applicators erect exterior structural steel studs and sheeting, shaft wall systems, and install and finish drywall, partition walls, ceiling systems and access flooring types as well as applying thermal and sound insulation.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and apply blueprints and specifications for job layout

  • Erect exterior structural steels studs and sheathing

  • Erect light gauge residential steel studs, sheathing and demountable partitions

  • Apply different types of thermal, sound, and fire stopping insulations

  • Install partition walls and furring and shaft wall systems

  • Install lath, drywall, moulded and cast forms and ceiling systems

  • Strong communication, reading, numeracy & Strong problem-solving skills

  • Physical strength, stamina & ability to lift 25 kg

  • Good eyesight

  • Ability to work alone or with a team

  • Ability to work at heights

Apprenticeship Program

5400 hours of on-the-job training, supplemented by two 10-week sessions of in-class technical training.

Entrance Requirements

  • Grade 12 Diploma preferred (Grade 10 minimum)

Journeyperson Wage Rate

$45.39/Hr (2024 Provincial Average)
